Accordion Menu Causing Exported PDFs Crashing Acrobat

Hi All.

I’m having an odd issue where documents that I export from Xcelsius to Acrobat ver 9.0 are crashing Acrobat immediately.

If I export to Acrobat ver 6.0 it exports fine, but it makes my users jump through some Security hoops, so I’d much rather prefer to go with 9.0.

It was working fine until sometime last week. I can’t think of anything that I’ve changed that could cause this. I’m having support here reinstall Acrobat for me as due diligence, but I somehow doubt it’ll work.

Thoughts?

A little added information:

It appears that the issue is somehow linked to an accordion menu. If I delete the accordion, then Acrobat seems to work fine. I’m working on narrowing down what is wrong on the accordion, but I’m not sure Acrobat is behaving consistently.

Frustrating.

On another front, my coworker is able to open the files using Acrobat 10, although Acrobat gives him a message saying it’s repairing/rebuilding the file.

I have a feeling I may be hitting a limitation of Xcelsius?

welp, what happens when you export a swf, with just the accordian and its (Im assuming) dynamic data…all by itself?

I hadn’t tried that, but I just did, and it works fine.

The issue appears to be somewhere in the PDF export process?

I took a few minutes and did some testing. I was able to export to PDF with an accordian menu. I dont think its a software bug.

I have xcelsius ver: 5.3.5
and reader ver: 9

Did you mess around with the flash security settings yet?

Yup. Playing with the Security Settings didn’t help.

Do me a favor? Try opening in the Adobe Acrobat client, instead of Reader?

I actually may try to scrub my model of any confidential data so that I can post it here…

So I narrowed it down to one particular field that the accordion was looking at (4th of 4).

NO IDEA what about the field is causing the issue, which is a bit infuriating. Perhaps there’s an odd character in the data, but nothing jumped out at me.

I’ve spent far too much on this issue for now. Maybe I’ll revisit in a week or two to try and figure out more.

Thanks for the help!
