A drop down box with values that filter the report data

I am new to Crystal having previously been using Webi and Deski. I want to be able to put a drop down box on the report that acts in the same way a drill filter would in Web Intelligence.

It seems a parameter is what I need but they tend to produce a prompt box when the report is refreshed and I want it to simply exist as a drop down box where the user can change the report display without clicking any other button.

Is there any sort of tutorial on this type of thing?
