I believe that there is not yet a 64-bit version of DI for Windows 2003 Server (on Intel or AMD), correct?
Still… if we have a 64-bit Win 2003 server, will 32-bit DI run successfully? Has anyone tried this?

Here was a prior post on this topic:
Rumors are of a 64-bit Windows DI coming in the next major release.
We’ve standardized on AMD Opteron as our 64-bit hardware. AMD uses x64 architecture, which in theory will run 32-bit apps with no changes:

Is anyone successfully running DI 32-bit on 64-bit (with, obviously, the 2Gb limitation)?

Recently set up our server. 4 Duo 64 bit processors. (cute, looks like 16 in the monitor panel of windoze). It is running server 2005, not sure on the patch level. I installed from disk, loaded the ATL and database schemas onto my iPod, read them into the machine. Loaded an initial version of the source system and executed my batch jobs via the web admin.
Only problem is that you can not use windows authentication, it must have a userid in the database. We are using SQL server 2005.
DI ( 11.5.1.5 ) is running quite happily. The Universe stuff has also been set up. This was not by me and may have had to have other tweaks.
Does this help ? If you want the technical spec processor type etc. let me know. I don;t do the technical side, normally leave it to people who know more about windows - but I can try and look.

Thanks. I guess the question is that since this isn’t really a supported/certified platform by BO, how much risk would we be taking on by using it? Running a 32-bit app on a 64-bit OS seems a bit like magic. Then again, 16-bit apps run (generally) fine on 32-bit Windows.

We’ve been running DI on an Opteron server with Windows x64 for 9 months now (2 x dual core, Oracle 10g64 and 16gb RAM). Stability is great; I can’t recall any crashes. Sometimes we do run into the 2gb limit, but it’s always possible to redesign the job so that it’s pushed down to Oracle.

We had a discussion internally yesterday because of the confusion.
64bit OS is fully supported.

Great news.
Given that there is the potential for confusion, it would be nice if this were explicitly called out (Windows 2003 x64 Server but in 32-bit mode) in the platforms doc:
