4.1 UDT and Amazon RDS

Hi,
we are about to migrate one of our on prem datasources to Amazon RDS.
We are currently on SAP BI 4.1 SP 4.

Anyone know if Amazon RDS is supported as a data source for UDT? Trying to find the PAM for older versions of BI on the sap support portal is to say the least a little frustrating.

If it is supported, assume it’s just a case of downloading the driver and creating a jdbc connection?
Any other pitfalls or issues folks have experienced when attempting this?

Thanks in advance.

Paul

Here’s the link to the BI4.1 PAM if you have a support log in: https://support.sap.com/content/dam/launchpad/en_us/pam/pam-essentials/TIP/BI%20Platform/BI%20Platform%204.1/SAP%20BusinessObjects%20BI%204%201%20Supported%20Platforms%20(PAM).pdf.

All I see for Amazon is EMR Hive and Redshift for what it supports. That’s from the Semantic Layer Relationally Exposed DATA SOURCES tab of the spreadsheet.

Amazon RDS is providing standard database engine (Oracle, SQL Server, etc…) so it might be supported.

And in my company we are using RDS a lot for testing, and we connect BOBJ on data sources located on RDS (SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle and PostgreSQL). No pitfalls as far as I see. Good luck with the migration !

Hi Julien,
thanks for the reply. What version of BObj are you using there?

Cheers
Paul

From BI.41 to BI4.3, no issues
(my company is building addons to BOBJ so we test basically each BOBJ version)
