Hi,
I’m not sure exactly which forum this really sits in but I’m a report builder not a universe designer and it’s whilst I’m working with Webi R2, building reports that I’m having the issue. Also - apologies that this is a bit long winded!
We’re using webi xi r2 on tomcat server. I’ve had issues with webi in the past where the more reports I work on during a session and the more complex they get, performance is degraded - altering my java settings on my pc resolves that. However, over the past couple of weeks I’ve caused webi to completely stop working for the entire business on a few occasions now.
The issue arises after I’ve opened a large report and the document starts to load, the webi xi flash screen pops up and the timebar begins to progress between establishing a session, loading and then finally displaying the report. That progressbar only gets so far and just reaches a point beyond which it can’t get past (has been random points along progbar). Regardless of whether I choose to log off, close the report window or say, browse to another folder in the folder navigation window - nothing happens.
My only recourse is to close IE. That tends to leave me still with an open session on the server = no good with only 10 concurrent licenses in the business!
When this happens to me, it happens to all users logged on the system so I’m not 100% certain that it is me causing it but I do the more complex stuff so I assume it’s me. No-one can get in anything, we can . In order to resolve the issue, we have to reboot the BO server 3 times to fix it.
My question is quite broad : why wouldn’t the first reboot solve the issue? What could possibly be different between restart 1 and restart 3? By killing the server aren’t we killing all sessions/activity on it or there is another issue? After rebooting the server, it’s back up and running as is sequel = we’re a bit stuck!
Just updating this : our issue hasn’t abated since I posted this. It’s not got any worse but I still wonder if anyone has any steer on what kind of thing causes this?
Many Thanks,
Steve
