BOXI Repository Documentor

ericksobj - This was developed against Excel 2003. Is it possible for you to run it on a version of Excel 2003? I do not have that available to me.

I also have not tested this in US Date forrmat, it was developed in a UK environment (both Workstation and Severs).

Thanks

HRS

FYI

Works like a charm against XI R2, obviously when pointing it to the correct references.

ericksobj - thanks for the feedback!

Trust me, I understand. Iā€™ve used that line here many times myself. A screenshot of the error is attached, and the specific line is as follows:

Rng(RowNum, 11) = CDate(Mid(DocumentItem.SchedulingInfo.BeginDate, 1, 10))

.BeginDate had a value of ā€œ8/8/2007 8:49:10 AMā€ at the time. That mid() function would return a value of ā€œ8/8/2007 8ā€ ā€¦ obviously canā€™t be coaxed into a valid date, so I suspect that is the problem.

HRSā€¦ Do I know you perhaps?

If you are and this is the same spreadsheet you sent to me, it works a dream (after changing the libs for XIR2).
Extremely useful!

Cheers, Sandi

I have amended the utility so it now fixes the error outlined by Dwayne, and also now displays the corrects categories and universe Revision.

Please can you replace the version in the Downloads area with this one.

Hi HRS

Perhaps you should submit your latest version now - the changes you did for linked and kernel universes are spot on! :+1:

Cheers,
Sandi

Iā€™ve download this utililty and Iā€™m getting an error when I run it. I get a ā€˜User-defined type not definedā€™. The progress windows shows that both the documents and universes have been processed and it is processing connections when this happens. When the error pops, it take me to the DocumentConnections subroutine and has the line of code ā€˜Dim Conn As Designer.Connectionā€™ highlighted.

I am using Excel 2002 and BOXIR2. Any ideas what might be the issue?

BTW, this tool looks great. It will make life a lot easier.

Have you changed the references over to release 11.5 from 12?

SandiR :uk: (BOB member since 2004-12-20)

Yes I did. It would not even log in without doing this.

Has the workstation got designer installed on it? This utility requires Designer to document the Connections.

If you do not have designer installed then uncheck the connections checkbox on the selection page and give that a whirl.

Also if you have miltiple BO environments, ensure the last repair / install is that of the XI version.

Actually, I just have one question. What is the criterion for a report to appear on the list?

I have some reports that exist in CMS but arenā€™t displayed in the document. I made sure that the inputted date covers those as well, that the type is all, and that Iā€™ve selected everything that can be fetched and that the document count is less than the record limit but they still donā€™t appear there.

Do they need to be scheduled or any other action performed on them? Like have an instance above 0?

Also, when I open the VBA editor I canā€™t see properly the code you use to run the macro, how can I, say, see the query you use to access the data? Iā€™m not very good with VBA in general so pardon me if it sounds like a stupid question.

Thanks a lot and again great work on the tool.

Have just this minute installed this and configured it against both our live R2 system and test R3.1 - and both work like a dream!

Great work!! :+1:

PS. works in both Excel 2003 and Excel 2007 too

To form my question a little bit clearer, how can I get the system to display reports whose Instance status is ā€˜falseā€™?

At the moment it only returns reports with ā€˜trueā€™ under Instance, whereas for the ad-hoc reports that donā€™t generate any instances there are no results, and Iā€™m not getting the whole list of documents. If I say that I donā€™t want any instances it returns no results at all.

If I can get some help with modifying this it will be much appreciated (looking at the VBA code you treat SI_INSTANCE as an integer, whereas in the CI_INFOOBJECTS table, it appears as a boolean) and again thanks for creating this awesome tool.

HRS, quite a bit of work on this tool. My partner in crime and I have downloaded and tested on XI r3 and XI r2.
Do we have something set up incorrectly?
We would also like to see the database that the Crystal Report uses for connectivity. It appears that only Universe supported Webi actually gets selected. We would be happy to add on code if you can give us a hint about the InfoObject that houses the database name, and credentails used.
Thanks Very Much !
Good work.

@nnoori - This tool documents what is held in the repository, adhoc report are not persistent and hence not stored in the repository - use the Audit information for adhoc refreshing.

@Richzaktx Ā– I do not have a CR licence at this moment in time and thus have not fully incorporated these reports in the tool.

@kkl Ā– the Scheduled information should be available! Ensure you check the ā€œInclude Instancesā€ check box.

Sushir Patel :uk: (BOB member since 2006-04-19)

HRS, when you do get a CR license, or download a CR2008 30 day eval copy, that would make your tool totally complete ! Keep us informed should you add CR. Thanks Rich Zak
