XCelsius shows blank canvas in developer mode

I never had this issue before facing this issue from couple of days, i suppose its a new bug. Components are visible in object browser but when i select specific component it doesn’t show up.

I’ve had similar issues before. Components that I can see on the canvas but can’t select. Components that i unhide but don’t appear. Usually closing and reopening Xcelsius “fixes” that, though sometimes a full restart is required.

Does the issue go away if you close/reopen Xcelsius?

No the issue is still there. I can see all objects in objects browser but nothing appers in canvas.

This is really a show stopper.

Please keep the xlf. If nothing else, it is worth sending to BO for review. If you want, I can start collecting buggy xlfs. I wrote to bo yesterday and got a elpful reply regarding support. I know that there is only so much we can expect but I think it would be good to upload buggy xlfs so they don;t have to try to recreate the issue.

If you guys upload, I will keep them all and send them. With a description of the problem in text format please.

Thanks for keeping track of the buggy issues. My XLF file size is 816 KB,there is a limit of 250 KB for this site so unfortunately i cannot upload.

try to do what I’m suggesting on this post and let me know.
This is a common issue, and I’m posting many times this solution. It would be nice send this to SAP and see their comments.

Yes i have SPi, Fp1 and FP2 installed. We logged ina ticket with SAP tech support its the number of components which was causing trouble for us. We tried to delete some components and do work arounds this works fine now.

I am experiencing the same problem (nothing on canvas but preview/object browser shows compenents). I am not using that many components but tried deleting some anyway. I also tried the regedit above. Niether work. Can you explain more about the “work arounds” you did to get yours to work or does anyone know a solution to this bug?

I had this issue before and Luca’s fix worked.

just delete (or rename)this folder from the regedit:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Xcelsius\Settings\en

Yeah, I tried that.Well, I guess that is why you evaluate software before you buy. If we cannot remedy this bug we’ll b looking elsewhere. Any suggestions?

Hi beandogger,
if you want you can remove your data from the excel sheet of your xcelsius and post your dashboard here. We will analyze it and then find a solution. Usually depending on the issue, my solution or Margaret solution were working fine.

Guys, I came here searching on the same issue. (Blank canvas in developer mode but everything appears in Preview mode)… Any solution on this issue… This has stopped my critical development.

I am not sure what the problem was… I deleted registry keys and it didnt worked and then after a while i gave up and closed laptop. In morning i checked again and here you go… it was working like charm… so not sure whether registry cleaning and restrat machine is the key…

Hi,

I have the same problem and when I installed fix pack three and re-installed Xcelsius it worked again.

FP3 should be available from the site, can’t upload because it is too big.

I have found a temporary, ‘not so perfect’, SOLUTION to this problem.
i was about to shoot myself in the face, about to lose a day and a half worth of work facing this problem…and this is what i did:

i opened my last file and in the “object browser window”, located the last component i was working on, right clicked, deleted it, saved with a different name, closed Xcelsius, opened the new file, and it opened (minus the one component).
