Xcelsius Dashboard with Link to external excel

Hi gurus, My dashboard is just based of an embedded excel spreadsheet(no Qaaws, LO etc), but my requirement is that my dashboard should maintain the link to the spreadsheet. We have our spreadsheet on a shared network drive, so whenever we update that spreadsheet it should get reflected in our .swf file on the web server. Is it possible?

I have searched older posts and looks like it is possible if we create an .xml connection to the spreadsheet(in dashboard). But not sure of the complete process.

Here are the steps i am following:

1. Click Data Connection-> Add XML Data
2. Click Enable Load -> Pick a Range
3. Preview XML–> Save As XML (say test.XML)
4. Enter the URL in the XML Data URL and specify the source test.XML
5. Save the dashboard as swf file.

One thing i am missing is how to convert the test.xml to .xls Excel(in the same format as the embedded excel). Please Advise.
