WEBI installation

Does anyone have the latest installation instructions for WEBI 2.0.3 with the service pack 5, Oracle 7.3. database? The administrator guide has installation instruction but I am just wondering if anyone has better documentation than the administrator guide. If so please forwarded it to me, I am not able to get on the B.O web page to check it out there.

Thanks,

Aris

When you log into WEBI, go to options and change the Business Objects Document Viewer option to standard html format.

I am trying to install Webi and require some help.

This is the situation:
I have installed webi(2.6) on the server and client version(5.1.2) on a desktop with sql server as database. When I log on to Infoview I am not seeing corporate documents or any of the universes that I have created. In fact it does not authenticate at all passwords at all.

I have put the BO Mainkey on shared data folder on the webserver and also cofigured ODBC drivers on the webserver. I thought I was making some mistake and moved the BO Main key to the loc data folder and the message says cannot reach repository database.

Can someone let me know where I am going wrong?

Thanks,
Sashi

if you are truly using ODBC to get to your repository, make sure you have the ODBC source set as a System DSN, not a user…

make sure you can connect to the repository from that box using your database tools - i forget what you would have available with SQL, but anything you can use…

more info?

i would also say that the key should go in the locdata folder.

make certain that you have the data source name set up correctly too.

and yes, more info… is there more to the error message? when do you get that error message?

I think the key in the Locdata folder is a requirement for WebI.

Yes, the locdata folder must contain the BOMain.key file. The best way to

make sure you’re connections are correct is to install Supervisor on the Webi server and run the Safe recovery creation of the BOMain.key ON the server. Then just close Supervisor. Do not rename the BOMainkey. Then copy the key file to each client, putting it in the locdata folder. If from the Webi server you can connect directly to your Database using some SQL tool, then the ODBC connection you setup should work provided you use the
correct
data source name etc… Access DB’s for example do not require a username
and
password by default. Having the BOMain.key in the locdata folder on the
Webi
server validates the security of the login. A way to test is remove the BOMainkey from the folder then click the Infoview login buton, it should take you right in. Then put it back and retest. Do all of this on the
server
then move to the client machine and install the BO desktop products. Make sure you use the same ODBC drivers and since the BOMain.key is copied from the server you should be golden.
Good luck Sashi.
