Using an existing repository.

Hi all,

I have a BO 6.5 installation on one machine.

I am installing BO 6.5 on one more machine. I want to use the first machines repository here in the second machine as well.

Can anyone please throw some light on this because it is very important.

Hi and welcome to BOB,

Have a look to this post

Regards
Sebastien

Thanks for your help.
Let me explain the scenario in more detail.
My client already has BO6.5 installed on a machine with some desktop intelligence reports written in free hand SQL.
The repository is in Oracle 10 and on a different Database machine.
He wants us to Install 6.5 on a new Server whose configuration is Windows 2003 Server with SP1.
We intend to use the same repository for the new installation since we are suppose to bring the old reports on the new Server as well.
Please suggest what should be our proper approach.
Thanks all in advance.

I dont think installing BO 6.5 again for the same repository is going to solve your problem.

whats the need of building two servers?

Rather go for safe recovery on the same server to create another BOMAIN.KEY.

Even you can use this bomain.key for your server product like infoview and admin console.

Whats the exact requirement? i believe you need to explain further and further. I believe your are not going in the right way.

Thanks,

Ranjan

Hi Ranjan,

Thanks a lot for taking keen interest in the issues faced.

The client wants us to install BO 6.5 on a new machine because of system configuration.

The old machine does not have the enough of memory less RAM.

They are facing out of memory problem as told by them.

I am trying to install Bo 6.5 on the new machine but I would like to use the same repository.

Is there any way I can achieve this?

Also all of their reports are free Hand SQL based.

I need to bring these reports on the new machine as well.

Do you think I should create a new repository and just copy paste the existing reports ?

Highly appreciate your help.

As i told you earlier in the supervisor you need to do safe recovery and connect to the same database and same schema and create a new bomain.key for the exiting repository and copy that bomain.key to the nodes folder for server product.

everything will be fine.

go through any supervisor guide pdf and see how safe recover is done if you don’t have any prior exp.

Thanks,

Ranjan
