User attributes in version 6.5

In 6.5 you can define user attributes: ‘Display name’ and ‘e-mail’.
I found out that,

• when you do not fill in these attributes, the Username is shown in Webi;
• when you fill in the ‘Display Name’, the Display Name is shown in Webi
  => 'Welcome ’

But, where is the ‘e-mail’-attribute used?
