Upgrading from BI4.1 SP6 to 4.2 SP5 any issues?

Hi,

As 4.1 is out of mainstream support at the end of this year we’re looking at upgrading to 4.2 and the latest seems to be SP5. Are there any reported issues doing this upgrade such as report calculation engine changes or settings being wiped? We’re trying to determine the level of regression testing we will need.

Also is it best to go to base 4.2 SP5 or apply the latest patch as well?

We upgraded from BI4.1 SP5.1 to BI4.2 SP5 (no patches). We have had no big problems so far. We always install a new version on a new machine and transfer the metadata with command-line promotion management. We only had to redefine the top-level security on folders, categories and users/groups.
