Good Morning all,
We are in the process of doing an upgrade from BO v4.1.3 to v4.1.7. I am curious to know if anyone has done this and the problems encountered if any. I am really curious to know if there are any DLL issues in such an upgrade.
Product : Business objects 4.1.3
Platform : Windows NT 4 SP 6

I’ve upgrade BO Version 4.1.X to 4.1.7 on several in house and client machines on various platforms, without any problems, if that’s any help.

Hi Listers,
I have hearing this for sometime now that if you want to upgrade your repository
to BO 5.x from 4.x
you need to be atleast at 4.1.7. Is this true?

but BO will not support you if you upgrade your repository to BO 5.x from 4.x and remain full client v4.1.3

Ditto, we did the upgrade from 4.15 to 5.01 also - no problems…
I think sub 4.13 versions may have problems, I have seen a tech note on that…

So you can run BCA without first upgrading your entire site.
The new repository is required for BCA and for Webi 2.5. But you can still run the older client software until you are ready for the upgrade. But BCA is supposed to be much more reliable and robust than DAS. There are new features (report bursting) in BCA that DAS does not have.
One issue to be aware of in a mixed version environment, of course, is the problem that v5 cannot write a v4 format. So you cannot “downgrade” a document for clients that have not upgraded yet.
BCA supports both v4 and v5 documents.
Just some thoughts…

Sorry about the tardyness. Better late than never.
There were some intermittent problems when using a 4.1.3 full client against the 5.0.1 repository. (One of the problems is that an error message sometime would occur when exporting a 4.1.3 document to the 5.0.1 repository. The message indicates that the repository domain is not responding.)
On that note I have a question to one and all. Is there anyone who is experienceing problems with WEBI 2.5 and IE?
