Hello,
I worked on the IDT tool for the past few years on my laptop with the IDT tool installed. Now I’ve moved to another laptop and instead of having the client install on this new laptop, I am remoting onto the live BO server and using the IDT tool there.
I’ve picked up the Unx project but the data foundation is missing all the additional tables I have added over the last few years. I’ve also refreshed the structure but this hasn’t helped. There are reports running using the tables I’ve added so I’m sure everything is OK in the background but I need the IDT tool that I’m working with to reflect the latest version. Do I need to save a file down from my old laptop version? Can anyone advise please? Thank you.
The client tools aren’t supported on the same machine with the server components any more. I’m surprised you could get the IDT installed on a machine with the server components.
That being said, if you retrieve the universe from the repository, it should be the current version of the universe that has been uploaded to the repository.
Thanks John. I’m on a laptop outside of the company network and using a vpn to get on. Will I be able to get the client tools working like that through the vpn on this laptop. I’m asking because we’re upgrading from 4.3 to 2025 soon.
You should be able to work with your laptop over VPN. It might be a little slow but it should work. I work remote and have used the client tools over VPN some without issue.
Great, thanks John, much apricated. I also retrieved from the repository again so get the latest version now.
