Universe Testing Guidelines

Hi
I have been asked to prepare some testing guidelines to test the whole BO suite - starting from Universe testing and later on testing even the individual reports. I`ve done a lot of report testing over the years so I have a good idea of the guidelines for reports, but would appreciate any help in setting up some standards/guidelines on what should a Universe testing strategy look like

Here are some tests I recommend:

  1. Test to see if the total of measures with no dimensions matches the totals generated with SQL
  2. Test to see if the totals in #1 change when all of the dimension objects are added to a query. This checks to see if there is a join that drops records or a join the duplicates records
  3. Test to see if there is any unexpected object incompatibility
  4. Test to see if expected object incompatibility happens
