DB, this has been a huge topic in the past, many different reasons and explanations. Do a search on “unhandled exception” and/or “abort bug” and I’m sure you will find everything you ever wanted to know and more.

what is your DB type? What’s your driver name & version?
sometime the ODBC driver will create such a problem

I am sorry for that fast tying stuff.

I meant to ask, do you have row by row autofit option on any object in the table where you are trying to set ranking.

Reema,

Nope I don’t have any auto fit option on any row or columns. Secondly I am try to sort and not rank.

Thanks,
DB

are you still having the issue? have tried all the recommendations? delete local unv, .lsi, registry key, ect… What BO version? Did you see resolution entry 4639 in the BO Knowledge Base that walks you through the cause and resolution.

One of our field user experts report that they never getting unhandled exceptions when they are working in offline mode.

I’ve looked at several posts on the forum and the referenced BO Knowledge Base entry but I’m still wondering what how this would have an influence.

Ok, we were just having this same issue here, version 5.1.1 and it turned out to be a change to the Universe. The exception error would occur as the Universe imported to the PC. The fix was to delete the Universe from the local PC and then open the report and let the Universe reimport, of course after they fixed whatever was wrong in the Universe. I dont know the details on the Universe, nor can I find out :reallymad: . Hard going from a designer, supervisor, reporter to reporter only :wah: .

Here’s one more thing to try that may seem strange. Try changing the screen area resolution. If you are using say 800x600 display resolution try going up to 1024x768. Then reopen your report and see if the problem goes away. I have found that this will resolve certain C000005 errors.

To make this adjustment right-click on the windows screen background and choose PROPERTIES. Choose the SETTINGS tab. There you will see a slider with the title “Screen Area”. Adjust this setting and then reopen your report and see if it works then.

I have seen this work on a Win XP systems.

Give it a try!
