I have some problems with applying a template to an existing report.
The template is just to apply a standard header/footer, so I deleted all unnecessary stuff from the template (variables/formulas/constants/tableblocks/dataproviders). When I apply the template to an existing report, the tableblock on the report changes also.
How can I construct a template, which does not corrupt the body of my report?
What version are you on? BO 4.1.2 allows you to apply Headers and Footers successfully. There are also some options you may want to check. If you ALWAYS want this Header and Footer, you can create the Template and save as DEFAULT.RET and it will be used for all NEW reports. (You may want to rename the original default template first). -rm
Thanx for your reaction. The version I am on is 4.1.1. Is this a known problem in this version?
I am going to try the DEFAULT.RET. This makes life a lot easier…

Answer: When you are applying the template to the new report, choose options in the apply templates window. Take off the option that overlays columns in the target report. This will bring you to another window where you choose the variables in the templates. You are going to replace these template variables with the variables in the new report. This way, when you apply the template, the new report variables will not be overlayed. The extra columns do get cutoff in the new report, but you can always insert them back again from the report variables into the report.
