Template Margins

We have experienced the same problem, but have no solution other than using ‘select a template’ or ‘Apply template’. Would be interested to hear of any fix.

Can anyone offer any help on the following problem.

I am using BO 4.12 and have created a template with the company logo etc. on it and called this default.ret in the templates directory.

When running Reporter and creating a new report, if I choose the “select a template” option and pick default from the list, I can go on to produce my report without any difficulty. If, however, I choose the “generate standard report” option, the report comes out with incorrect margins and cuts off some of the logo.

The “generate standard report” option must use the default.rep template as the logo appears on the report, but I cannot figure out why the margins change.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem, and how can it be resolved?

Thanks,

Ginny.

I’m answering one of my own questions here, but I know at least one person expressed an interest in knowing the answer.

My problem was about margins changing in a default.ret template I had created with a company logo. If I chose the “select a template” option and picked default from the list, I could go on to produce my report without any difficulty. If, however, I choose the “generate standard report” option, the report comes out with incorrect margins and cuts off some of the logo.

The way round this problem is:

  • Create your template, save it in the templates directory, but call it something other than default.ret
  • Run Reporter
  • Click on Tools --> Options --> New Document * In the Report Layout section, choose your template and press OK.

This will use this template for all future reports with the correct margin sizes.

The disadvantage is that it no longer gives you the option of “select a template” or “generate standard report” before you run the query. Therefore, in order to choose another template, you have to select Tools --> Options --> New Document and change it back to Prompt User under the Report Layout section and then create another report.

Bit of a hassle, but it works!

Ginny.
