Suggestions for [poll] what o/s and database do you use

Having only recently found BOB, and become a user of BO, I was curious as to what combinations of operating systems and databases people use.

My thinking goes along the line of…if a particular combination has a smaller number of users, then issues/bugs can take time to surface.
Whereas a popular combination gets more testing.

Before the poll proper, I would like some suggestions as how to choose the combinations for people to vote on. We need enough to make sense, but not to many to confuse, or put people off.

I see there being various options for o/s, including but not limited to…
Unix (do we include all Solaris, AIX etc together)
W2k
Citrix or TS

Then for databases there is…
Oracle, SQL …

Or if someone knows the how many BO systems are out there in various combinations, then speak up.

P.S our company uses Citrix and MS SQL 2000

P.P.S My feeling is to ignore what version of BO software people have, as it only complicates things…everyone  has to eventually upgrade to the latest version at some stage.

I’d suggest asking for the predominant DBMS used - I report against AS400, SQL Server and Oracle, depending on the business unit that I am working for at that time.
Also, we use AS400, W2K and Unix for each of the systems respectively.
Probably not the best poll to push ahead with, but a “favourite DBMS” poll might be interesting…

We have WebI 2.7.4 running on Windows 2000 server and BO repository running on HP UNIX server. Then we report against Teradata data-warehouse. We also have some data-marts on Oracle and Sybase.

Hope this helps.

We had a poll on this some time ago. But being in Off Topic (the only current location polls are allowed) it has since been removed. But if I remember, Oracle was in first place as a db platform. I don’t believe we looked at combinations of db and operating system.
