I’d like to create two market share pie charts for comparison purposes.
The first one would be a “pre” period and the second would be the current month -that would change monthly - this is a trend report.
Is there anyway to make the “pre” pie chart static, in other words, not referencing any data once initially established?
I want this b/c the data it references initially, will be from a month that will no longer be included in the trend report (want to only include 12 month time intervals and the “pre” period is 16 months ago).
If you use 2 data providers - one for each chart - then you can set the data provider holding the static data so that it can’t be refreshed.
You can do this in the Data Manager window - either the little gray Rubik’s cube on the toolbar, or Data/View Data from the menu. Under the Definition tab for a data provider are a couple of checkboxes. Removing the tick from ‘Refreshable’ stops the data from being updated when the report is refreshed.
Paul’s advice is sound, if the data remains truly static. While not exactly the same as your need, another approach was discussed in this topic. Just food for thought.
