SQL Server native SQL in universe

I have a .unx universe that connects to SQL Server, However I can’t use native SQL Server code in the object descriptions. e.g.

Need to use CurDate() instead of getdate()

Why is this? SQL Server native code works fine in other universes.

I’m guessing its been set up as multi-source?
