This is probably buried in the archives somewhere, but I didn’t stumble upon it.
At present, we’re on Oracle 7.3.4, with SQLNet 2.3. The machine that the repository lives on will be at Oracle 7.3.4 for some time yet. However, our DBAs are starting to move to Oracle 8, and one of the first instances to move is one that we have a universe defined against. The question is – will users who access that universe (via the 7.3.4 BusObj repository) need Net 8? Can it coexist with 2.3 for their other universe connections? What are the issues here? Similarly, once the instance with the BusObj moves to Oracle 8, but other databases are still at 7.3.4, what versions of SQLNet will work?
Thanks,
Amy Miller

We also moved our databases and repository to Oracle 8 recently, We were still able to connect via SQL*Net 2.3 from the desktops. You will need to update your repository information via Supervisor once you have converted to Oracle 8 and we found that we needed to export all the universes due to some PCs not picking up the changes. We plan to convert the desktops to Net8 as they cutover to B.O. 5.0.
