Sort by Month in WebI

Hi Folks,

I have developed a crosstab in WebI 2.0 by year and month. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to sort the months in proper order (Jan-Dec). WebI, by default sorts alphabetically by month (because the months are a char datatype) leaving me with month sorted from April to September alphabetically. In the full client version I was able to overcome this by sorting on a numerical date, then hiding the number in the document. If anyone has a solution, I would love to hear it.

Ben,

Click on your month column. Use the ‘MonthNumberOfYear’ function in your variables editor. This will turn your chars into a month number (date). Or if you still want to want to keep the month names, insert a blank column, place this function referencing the month column and then sort by that column you just created. Now you see your month name, and next to it your month number. Now just hide your month number column and the sort stays. HOpe this helps.
