Can you give a little more detail? How many rows are returned by the query? Is it using complex conditions. Is it using any conditions at all?

Can you measure the time that DB engine takes to execute data provider’s query?

I have couple of questions:
(1) r u using FC or webi?
(2) How many users using this report?
(3) What kind of Database u r using?
Also u can try like that:
If u see ur DB engine taking less time ( significantly) then u have to check universe.Check— Do u have any unwanted join between the tables? Do u have lots of alias tables? etc
Also copy ur SQL statement and instead of putting it into ur Database engine use this for free hand SQL and see how long it it taking to get the data.
