We would like to give certain users read-only access on the repository; allow them to see what’s on the repository and retrieve documents from it, but not delete documents.
This currently is not an option in Supervisor ver. 4.1.1. Right now, it’s an all or nothing situation. A user can be enabled or disabled to retrieve from (and delete from) the repository or send to the repository.
Is this desirable to anyone else? Has anyone heard if this is a future enhancement?
Would you be willing to elaborate on this? Do you really want read-only (from a database perspective) or do you just want an option to keep users from deleting things?
Although my testing has not been extensive, I have a suggestion that may help. In supervisor, you can change a users BusinessObjects privileges. The Option “Delete documents sent to groups by other users” seems to provide just what you are looking for. If you “Disable” this option for your users, they will only be able to delete documents that they own from the repository.
We are using 4.1.2. but I think this option is also in 4.1.1. In Supervisor select the user you want to restrict and go to ‘user properties’, on the definition tab you should see a check box for ‘Enable delete Document’. If you deselect the check the user will not be able to delete from the repository.
