Reports that inexplicably grow in size

I just wanted to share something I’ve noticed about reports that are nothing but the query and have been purged of data but are of an abnormally large size. I was looking for references to ‘Location’ by using the find file tool in Windows. Windows said that a certain report contained the word location but I was unable to find it in the query and there was no data to search. I used the find command in DOS to confirm that ‘Location’ was in the file and to tell me where it appeared. I then opened the document in Word, searched for ‘Location’, and there it was. There was a sql statement that had nothing to do with the report and lots of data that seemed to be the result of the bogus sql. The report is larger than you’d expect a purged report with one tab to be. I don’t suppose there’s any way to get rid of the bogus sql statement or the data that isn’t really there. I just didn’t want to let this pass without commenting on it.

Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully. Talk slowly but think quickly.
Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice. Mind your own business.
Learn the rules then break some.
Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

I had a similar experience. There was a report we created that when purged was 3 meg. It only had about 5 objects and no formatting to it. I just recreated the report from scratch and it was then 46kb. I’m not sure where the 3 meg came from but just an FYI.
