Report and Universe Meta Data (BOXI)

Hello,

I want to make (simplified) meta data information of universes and published reports available in an Oracle Database and show the results in BO universe again. For example objects and classes, tables and columns used etc.

It is not very difficult to extract this information from the object models. Having a lot of reports and universes this takes a LOT time and hand made solutions tend to take a lot maintenance effort.

Do you know a possibility to extract the information needed - in the best case realized by BO standard functionality?

For Universes and DESKI only

Please see the macro, it produce two text files :

  • _rcUnivers.txt : universe objects
  • _rcDocument.txt : all objects of deski stored in userdocs directory

I don’t think it’s possible, other than using the object models … especially in the XI environment. There really is no choice but to open each document / universe individually.

I’m not sure if you’ve found these utilities here on BOB yet, but you may find them useful. They don’t load the results back to a database for reporting, but may give you some ideas on what’s possible.
