I need to build a report in 6.5.1 where I prompt on a role and based on which role is chosen, prompt again to select a name within that role.
Is this possible?

This type of prompts are called cascading prompts. For how to create them please have a look at Designers’ FAQ.

yes, you can do it in 6.5.1 (I think cause we did it in 6.1b)… but it’s not really “sexy” (my opinion). It’s a little bit better in XI (cause BO can generate automatically a cascading prompt)…
Whatever, if you really want implement it : use the @Prompt into Designer for your object (you’ll find a couple of thousand post on BOB about it)

We successfully created the cascading prompt (thank you for your help), but when we published the report in Infoview/WebI it didn’t recognize the feature.
Is there something we need to do there?

… yep I know, this is one thing that I call “not really sexy” 
We had the some issue… We can’t find a really good one solution with the cascading prompt… always missing something :
- difference between Webi and BO
- friendly interface
- powerful (= user can select level 1 or level 2 or etc… No way !)
-…
We are studying others solutions (OLAP cubes)… sorry for this speech discouraging… but if you do it better… let me know !!
