Do you have the Webi “Explorer” module? It is my understanding that you need this module if you want to drill in Webi. And yes, it costs extra.
<<File: ATT00044.html>>
All,
I am trying to run a report in WEBI like this :[The report should be a drillable report within WEBI 2.0]
SQL looks like:
Division CWT CTO$ Average
The AVERAGE object is just another column that is being calculated in designer by doing sum(sum(CTO$)/sum(CWT)), which has all AVERAGES per ITEM (a lower detail level than Division )
When I try to run this report at the DIVISION level, the first two columns ( CWT & CTO$) come out ok, but the AVERAGE comes out at the Detail level, which is wrong data!
So it gets the average column data at the detail (item) level, then at drill time, it uses the projection built into Designer (sum or average) to try and aggregate on the client and roll it up at the higher level (division). The problem is, it does not re-run the query for division level
In any case, that number is NOT right since it needs to be at the SUMMARY (division) level, not an Aggregate of everything at DETAIL level, shown at the SUMMARY level.
I can’t create a variable in the report in WebI as I can in Business Objects ( Full client ) and hence the numbers aren’t matching… The problem revolves around not being able to create a variable in WebI. We were hoping to overcome it by doing it at the SQL level, but ran into the problem at drill time.
Any help/suggestions would be greately appreciated …

Yep, the drill is not the problem. The problem is how the aggregation is done when the report is being rolled up.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Javed,
An average calculation on the universe can only be correct at the lowest level of aggregation, since the calculation is included in the SQL. To get a drillable calculation, the formula must be created in the reporting tool. In other words, this cannot be done in WEBI. Sorry.
