Problem with BCA

Hello listers,

we use BO 5.01, Orcale 8, net 8 and for the BCA-server: NT4 Server (Service pack 6). The server is a test-server with a pentium 133 and 128MB and has the BCA-server components installed.

The problem we have has already been discussed on this list. When the BCA-server tries to run a document, the document fails and has the following errortext:

(0) cannot get script from document Cannot create BCA macro in document

We contacted BO-support and used the information mentioned earlier in this list:

  • the local administrator on the testmachine has all possible rights for the installation and the BCA-services/components. - The option this user is set correctly. -We can run a report and a VBA-macro with the BO-version on the BCA server.
But nothing helped, the error is still there.

Is there anyone with the same experience? Any help will be appreciated!

We are also getting the same error. After contacting BO support we checked all the possible causes including those that you have listed below. The only option left is to reinstall BCA on the server which we might do within one or two days.

Hi Rahul,

the problem :

(0) cannot get script from document Cannot create BCA macro in document

You wrote,

We are also getting the same error. After contacting BO support we checked all
the possible causes including those that you have listed below. The only option
left is to reinstall BCA on the server which we might do within one or two days.

Before you reinstall (We also did a complete reinstall (NT4 server, Oracle Client and BCA and nothing helped), try the following. In a random document make a macro with only the following statement:

activedocument.refresh

Send this document to the BCA with action Custom Macro and select the macro with the above statement.
In our case BCA will process this document succesfully. But there’s more…
If you send the same document with the macro again, but now with the action refresh and not Custum Macro the document will also be processed succesfully (in our case that is).
But there’s more…
Again, send the same document with the macro removed and with the action refresh and in our case this also refreshed succesfully. …huh…

But there’s more…
A NEW document with the action print, save as rtf or save as txt is also being processed normally.

Could you also try the above actions and let me know your results. Thank you in advance.

Hi Robert,
It seems like nothing is working in my case. I tried all of your test cases. Here, I am getting two different types of errors on the BCA.

1.> A document containing a macro results in the error : “Error Code = 0x80010105, Error Message=‘The server threw an exception.’,WCode=0x00000000, Description = ‘(null)’”

2.> A document with no macro when submitted to the BCA (irrespective of the action : refresh, print etc…) results in the error : “(0) Cannot get script from document Cannot create BCA macro in document”

The strange thing is that the same documents are refreshing absolutely fine on the development BCA server which is also using the same repository. I am trying to compare the configurations of the two NT servers and the only difference I could find was that ‘Microsoft Index Server’ and ‘Microsoft Script Debugger’ are not installed on the NT Option Pack of the new server. I dont see how this could affect the functioning of BCA.

Thanks for your help, anyway.

Rahul.
