Before printing, select all the cells in every report that you do. Go to format cell, shading tab.
Select the Foreground and Background color as white and the shading to Clear(0%).
After you do this for a report you will not have to do it again. It will work.

The background on printed reports is always black. We try to change it to
transparent - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.
Any tips on how to make this work - and how to default it for new reports
once we get it fixed? Thanks for any advice you can give us!
Sometime back we had this problem and we were mentioned that it was problem with some of the Printer drivers. Anyway we did a work around by changing the background to White Solid 100%.

Some reports although print fine on some printers actually come out out black (totally or somewhat) on other printers. This could happen on a Color printers for instance. The way to fix it is to highlight all cells which are black then select
o Format, Cell
o Select the Shading Tab
o Fill Section make sure it is Shading Clear(0%) o Foreground Color set to Automatic or Custom with Black as color o Background Color make sure the color chosen is white Depending on how or who created the report this may not always fix it 100%. If this is the case Select the Font tab from the Cell Format window and see what color the Color is in the Colro Section.

Hi Leslie,
All the suggestions that have been given to you so far are correct. However you would have to do the same thing every time that you create a new report. If you open the “default.rep” file found “template” folder, you can fix this permanently here by doing the following: a) format the header cells to the correct colour or shading required b) save the report
c) save the report as “default.ret” (choose to save the file as a B.O. template)
Try creating a new report. The formatting will automatically apply to new reports, but not to existing ones unless you reapply the default template to them.

We experienced the same problem when we went to v4.1.5. There are several things you can try, but the best solution is acquiring the Customer Service Support Pack #79 (CSP 79) from BusObj Tech Support. Installing it will solve the problem permanently.
