Has anyone migrated to BO 4.1 at the same time as they upgraded to Oracle Financials 10.7? We are in the process of going from Oracle Financials 10.4 to 10.7 and I would like to move to BO 4.1 (from BO 3.1) at the same time. I would like to make contact with anyone who has already gone through this I understand the Oracle table names are different so I can’t do the normal query conversion from BO 3.1 to BO 4.1.

We have migrated from BO 3.1 to BO 4.0 to BO 4.1 before. Now we are moving from Orafin 10.5 to Orafin 10.7.
During the migration most of the efforts required would be due to BO upgradation.
In Orafin they have changed the table names but they have also created Views with
original names for
backward compatibility under user FND or FNDAPPS (not very sure). So the only change required would be to remap the owner of the tables from AP/AR/GL etc to FND. There is a different team at our site doing Orafin upgradation,
and this is what I gather from them. If you have any specific question, e-mail me directly.

We have been involved in upgrades of Oracle Financials and Upgrades to Business Objects
with the versions you stated. I have to agree that:
During the migration most of the efforts required would be due to BO upgradation.
I understand from our Financials experience that 10.4 to 10.7 the major “structure” changes are
instead of having separate table owners for each module (GL, AR, AP etc) all tables/views are now owned by one monolithic “APPS” user. Apparently the name of this user varies from installation to installation but it’s name can be gleaned by going into one of the Financials screens (I have this information somewhere).
Also, the original tables become renamed to
_ALL (as I understand it) and views are created called <TABLE_NAME> - this is to allow for Oracle’s multiple organisation ability I believe.
I would hope that Business Objects will recognize any field changes to the base tables and you can refresh these. Not sure about how you have it set-up at present, but you will probably need to repoint (drop and recreate) all the synonyms of the user you connect as in BO to the “APPS” user but this shouldn’t be a big deal.
Oracle have an upgrade manual which describes the changes made for each release and I think if you could get hold of this and follow through versions 10.4 to 10.7 it would give you a good idea of the changes involved in the database structure.
