We are presently on Oracle 7.3.3 ,sql*net 2.3 and BO 4.1.5
The DBAs are planning to upgrade the databases to Oracle 8.
Do we need to move to BO 5 for that ?..or will our existing BO 4.1.5 setup still work.

You do not have to upgrade to 5.0. Just be careful during the transition. If you have users on SQL*Net and Net8, you will want to remove the BO connectivity to one or the other. BO gets confused if you have both connectivities installed and also have both middlewares present.

Your existing setup will work, you will need to update the repository information using supervisor and exported the universes once you have edited the repositories.
