ODBC connections

Hi,

I have a very prelimnary question. What is BOMAIN.KEY? How is it used in authenticating the users?

I understand that we need to create ODBC connections to the Security & Document repository. How does BO connect to the appropriate security domain when there are multiple ODBC connections.

Please gimme this info…

Thanks & Regards

A) You should use native database middleware instead of ODBC whenver you can (better performance and compliance).

B) The *.key file stores database password and database user ID (encrypted) to connect to the Business Objects security repository (this still requires the database middleware to be installed and configured for the database hosting the Business Objects security repository). The Business Objects security repository stores connection information to all the different universe domains and document domains.

I suggest reading the Deployment manual that comes with the software

Andreas has given good advice. I’d also like to mention that all participants and moderators of this board are volunteers. We hope that everyone is polite – and I’d like suggest that “gimme” is often taken to be somewhat impolite. It seems to imply that someone “owes” you something. As volunteers, no one “owes” anyone else information – but will often freely share it in a spirit of camaraderie.
