Objects rights

Hi all,
I need some help. I have to deny the access to a particular set of objects to some group of users . I tried to use the advanced option (protection level) in the object’s properties defined in the universe but I don’t know how associate the corrispondent level to users that can use the object (ex private).
How can I do that?
Thanks a lot…bye

You need to define the suitable level within the Designer PLUS the CMC!

In my opinion, you’re better off using Access Restrictions, since they’re much more flexible.

Just can’t wait for BI 4 where we will be able to use Universe Views for this!

Explain?

My 10 cents:
I still think that this kind of security belongs in the backend, e.g. via Oracle’s Virtual Private Database functionality (VPD), which is totally transparent to any frontend-tool and cannot be cirumvented even when directly executing SQL code via SQLPlus or TOAD for example.

OK Dessa, I will :stuck_out_tongue: .

Hi Andreas,

I don’t like universe level access restrictions at all, give me VPDS or DB row level security, any day of the week.

I believe we are talking cross purposes here. I was talking about visible classes and objects depending on user group membership. This is something I believe universe views will offer?

I have just been discussing with Michael here:-

Cheers,
