Object Level Security

Hello,

Object level security; does it only restrict the “viewing” of an object? or the actual values of the object?

Lets say I developed a canned report where I used an object called Gross Profit Margin, set the object security level at restricted

I am assuming if User A (part of private access group) runs the report he/she will see a value under Gross Profit Margin measure column

what will happen if User B (part of public access group) runs the same report? Will he/she not see Gross Profit Margin measure at all on the report or will he/she see an error for that measure column?

Or see something totally different?

your answer and help is much appreciated.

Thank You

Your question is covered here:-

You may wish to look at row level security, instead, theres a good starter for 10 here:-

P.S. KadaX, Welcome to B:mrgreen:B!

Thanks for the reply and the welcome, Mak!

I am not quite clear if i would see and error message relating to the query run or an error message related to the restricted column (#syntax). I have read both scenarios on the BOB.

using xi r3.1 sp 3, teradata

any further clarification available?

thanks,
