I had a user who did not get a new version of the universe downloaded onto her PC, while other users did. Business Objects would not recognize that she needed the new copy of the universe. The .unv file and all the .lov files on her PC were dated in May instead of July. She is running on Windows 95 with a stand alone installation of Business Objects (4.1.1). The only way I was able to get the new universe to download onto her PC was to delete and re-install Business Objects on her machine. After re-installing, she got the new version and everything works fine now.
Does anyone know how this could have happened? And, is there an easier way, rather than re-install, that I could have fixed the problem?
You could have tried to simply delete her local copy of the universe…or delete and replace the bomain.key file. _______________________

We’ve also run into this problem, very infrequently, and on many releases of BusinessObjects. Cannot reproduce at will.
Seems to happen more often on Oracle (vs Sybase) Universes. The easiest solution is to go into your Universe/Universe directory & delete the offending Universe. This will force an import when Bus Obj is restarted.
(You don’t need to reinstall).

I thought that deleting the universe would work too. First, I tried deleting the .unv file on her PC. Then, the universe no longer showed-up on the list of available universes, and therefore would not download. Then, I tried replacing the BOmain.key file, still no luck. Finally, I deleted everything and did a re-install. FYI, we are running on Informix. Any ideas as to why the universe would not show-up on the list? Any other way to force it to download the new universe?
