Does anyone know if it is possible to move a report created in one BizO repo to another BizO repo? This report will move from one security domain to another. If it is possible, what are the steps to accomplish this?
We developed a strategy for doing this for 4.0. It involved creating dual (in our case 4) bomain.keys and switching them to trick BO into thinking it was the same repository. Essentially, we created one security domain, then renamed the bomain.key file then created a new one, etc. Each time the universes were exported, they had the same ids. (of course, since we had multiple universes, we had to export them in exactly the same order or the ids wouldn’t match). It worked pretty well, although it was a bit cumbersome. We eventually wrote a small app that did the switching through a GUI.
I have added some clarification to my earlier message. Hope this explains it better.
I have some Business Objects reports that were created using a particular universe in a particular security domain. Now I need to change the universe the report uses to a different universe in a different security domain. This is what I am trying:
I open the report while using the original security domain. 2) I save the report with the All Users check box checked on the Save As common dialog box.
I exit Business Objects.
I changed the BOMain.key to the the other security domain (the destination).
I ran Business Objects and logged in to the destination security domain. 6) I open the report.
When I try to look at the data provider a message box pops up before the Query Panel is displayed that says it cannot find my original universe.
That makes sence to me since that universe does not exist in the desination security domain/repository. How dow I point a report to a different universe in a different security domain/repository? Does it need to be exported to the destination document domain (we were trying to avoid that)?
