I am adding a condition in the query panel and chose the fiscal year. But when I set the fiscal year equal to… then select show a list of values, it shows the fiscal quarters for the list of values and not the fiscal years. The box shows up specifying list of values for fiscal year on the top of the box and the
actual list of values are quarters in the body (with a subheading of fiscal quarters). Has anyone experienced this and have found a solution? I am on BO 4.1 and on oracle 7.3
You can find the answer by searching the archives at listserv.aol.com ‘Nested Prompts’ as search words.
Good luck!
In the archives, there are messages regarding nested prompts, but I don’t see any that match my question…
I will use the Location/Admin-Area example that was mentioned in a previous message, (Feb 99, Wk 4, #63)
I have the same Admin-Areas for each Location, so just filtering on the Admin-Area will pick all Locations that have rows including the Admin-Area.
IOW, The user clicks values for the Admin-Area LOV, is prompted for the location, enters it, then picks the Admin-Area from a list of Admin-Areas specific to that Location.
Since Location A and Location B both have an Admin-Area 100, both Locations show up in the report. This makes complete sense and I understand why it is happening.
Since I am already prompting the user for the Location when I want to see the Admin-Area LOV, I don’t want another prompt asking for the Location again, especially because they could choose a different Location the second time.
Is there any way to make the prompt for the LOV have an effect on the report?
however, I do not want to see Year Qtr 1 then Year Qtr 2 then Year Qtr 3 ( 2000 Q1, 2000 Q2, 2000 Q2 etc…)
I want the the years with all the quarters beneath in a folder
2000
Qt1
Qt2
Qt3
Qt4
2001
Qt1
Qt2
Qt3
Qt4
Any thought? I’ve come close but I still need help.
Thanks,
Ron Cabrera

You could use three objects for the query in the following order: Year||Qtr, Year, Qtr
Your first object is always the value select object. After you run the query, set the list in hierarchical view. This will give you the Year, Quarter folders with the Year||Qtr object in quarter folder. I don’t think it is exactly what you want, but it’s close.
To make it more simple, I would just use two objects in the query: Year||Qtr, Year.

I looked through the archives but there are far too many entries on this subject When looking at a LOV there are supposed to be 3 columns, id, date1, date2. However, some of my users when looking at the LOV only see the ID and not the dates. This only happens to people using the full client. I’ve looked and it isn’t a matter of the 1st column being expanded over the whole width of the box thing :). I’ve had them try to repull the universe and the document but no results.

Me…
Log out. Delete their local *.lov file(s) and the universe. Log back in and use the universe in question. An import will be forced which will import not only the .unv but also the custom .lovs. I think Dave would say that you need to make sure to untick the ‘allow users to edit lov’ box. Your custom change may not be importing because BO is trying to be careful and not mess up a lov that a user may have customized locally.
