A colleague has asked me to post this question to ensure that we are not going crazy and that other people have experienced this !!
We have noticed that occasionally we lose all the joins in a context (the context is empty of joins) and for no apparent reason. Has anyone seen this ? I believe my colleague has logged it but BO are claiming that no-one has seen this before. I can’t believe it only happens to us !
Even if you don’t know what the solution is, please yell (even if by email) as we would like to get an idea of the number of people who have experienced this.
To be honest, I haven’t heard of this. Is there something unique about this universe (ie is it a Derived Universe)?
I understand that derived universes do not carry over the context information from the core universe. Please let me know if this is the case as it sounds plausible. From what I have experienced you need to redefine the contexts when using a derived universe. This is to prevent the isolated joins, etc that may occur.
Simply using the Detect Contexts may assist you in getting this corrected.
Yes, we have seen it at my client, 3Com, using Business Objects 4.1. The universe has about 150 joins, and the context has about 25 of them, and once in a while,
when using the context window to modify the context, it deletes all the joins.
I didn’t call it in because it doesn’t seem to be easily reproduceable.

We’ve once in a while had one or more single joins “blanked out”. It is still there, but empty (and keeps generating error messages if it got whiped before you filled in the cardinality). This happened to us while working in the structure window. In one case it left us with an empty context, but then the joins were not present in any other context. Did something similar happen here? i.e. can you still see the joins on the print-out (empty)?
We’ve logged this on behalf of one of our clients where this behaviour got to the point of being more than a little irritating (It happened nearly every time you worked in the structure window). But because we and BO couldn’t reproduce on any other environment, it led to nothing.

What I found when working with the structure window was, thet the context joins disappeared from the textual display window, when I had the small triangle checked (between table list and join list) which should display only joins of the selected tables. In this case I never see joins when I select a context in the right top window. Unclicking the triangle returns all joins again. But I never “lost” the joins up to now.
