I know how awfully stupid this sounds but I have a problem when linking information from personal data files (Excel files) to a universe.
In my universe I have 6 digit numbers (defined as character, and designed as dimension).
To these numbers, I would like to link an excel file with supplementary information, which should easily work by import of a second data provider and linked fields.
However, when importing my excel file in BO, BO converts the numbers of the excel file into a numeric field of a measure. It is of course very easy to change this measure into dimension, and to make the links, but the Type of this dimension (in the View Data menu) stays “Numeric” (it should be “Character”) and cannot be changed (grey field, not to change). Hence BO does not return a linked result.
In excel, IÂ’ve already tried (almost ?) everything in order to give the number a character format, but it wonÂ’t help (Cell Format > text) !
How can this problem be solved ?
