Is there an underlying object ID

Hi,
How does a column in a report access the object from the universe. Is it just the “object name”, or is there a concept called “object ID” underlying the universe and report…basically i am trying to find the intelligence in the BO to point to the right object.

here is the scenario which prompted this ques. !!
i created say a report using “universe1” . now i want this report to work on “universe2”. If the object name in both the universe remain same will the report work perfectly. (NOTE: “universe2” is not a copy of “universe1”). [color=darkred][/color]

Yes there is an object ID, and yes data providers refer to object ID’s first. But if you point a data provider to a different universe Business Objects then looks for the object name (and not for the hidden object ID).
