Importing metadata into Designer

Thought I’d ask here on the off chance there’s some sample code around…

We’ve got a metadata repository with information on all of our data warehouse tables, and I’d like to get the descriptions imported into the Description field of the object definitions.

Is there any way of importing data in the toolset? I’m pretty sure I could get my coding hat on and get stuck into the Designer SDK and do it myself, but obviously any other options appreciated
