How to get Metadata of Universe into Excel

Is there a way where we can get Metadata of the universe into one spread sheet.
By Metadata I mean:Class names, Object names, descriptions, Formats, Tables.Column names etc.
May be a macro by using which we can automate this process.
Need hlep on this please :frowning:

Hi,

have a look at this utility.

The only thing in the list of “desired” metadata that is not available is the default format. It’s there, but “buried” in the middle of a rather hieroglyphic string of text, so I left it out. Hopefully that omission is not too critical.

Thanks for the reply
But I get an error message when I try to open the file.
Error says: Macros are disabled because the security level is high…

VB is not installed on my machine. Would that cause a problem?. Do we need VB software on our machines to run macros from BO.

Thank you

I went to Tools>>Options>>Macros>>Security
and changed macro security from High to Med.

This tool was really helpful.
Thank you very much!!!

Hello, I’m attempting to execute the download for XIr2 and I keep getting a ‘run time error - 5’. I’ve attached a screen shot of the error. Any suggestions on how to get around this ?
Load Universe to Excel.doc (29.0 KB)

Please post your question in the topic linked above, otherwise it’s less likely to be seen by the folks that can help. Thanks. If the discussion gets fragmented across multiple topics it’s difficult for people to keep up.
