Hello,
I have read every manual and tried every seach that I can, but I can not create a ‘user defined object’. the ICON IS NOT greyed out and there are NO *.UDO files on my machine…
If I click the icon, NOTHING HAPPENS…
Any help is appreciated…

Hi, the answer is most likely in the FAQ

Thanks,
But I checked the FAQ and the answer isn’t there. My issue is that when I click the User-Defined Objects icon in the Query Panel, NOTHING HAPPENS…

Did you read and follow the instructions in the post I linked you to?

Yes I have read everything there - I do not have any UDO files on my computer…

Where did you look for the UDO file?

Thanks again - I did a complete c: drive search for *.udo. Also went to the universe directory and made sure there were no UDO files there:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Business Objects\Business Objects 6.0\universes
The *.unv. *.lov, etc. files were there, just NO *.udo files.
I’ve checked everywhere. The only thing I can now think of is to re-install…

Is this a problem just for one universe, or for every universe that you have access to?

Just a thought:
Are you allowed (via command restrictions in Supervisor) to use user objects?

It is in the command restrictions of BusinessObjects, Query Technique group, “Use User Objects” command restriction.
