Does anybody know of restrictions that apply to exporting data from BusinessObjects 4.1.3 to a .xls or .dbf file? I have tried exporting data to a .xls file from a report containing 15 fields. When executed I receive an error reading “Too Many Fields (3190)”. I also have a different report containing 15 fields that will export successfully to a .xls or .dbf file.
Are the fields unusually long text fields, like notes? I ran into this problem when trying to export a report that contained note data. There are character limitations that I haven’t been able to get around.

Re: Extra long text fields.
If you do an export from the Data drop-down window, it will cut text fields off at 256 characters.
If you do a “Save As” (*.txt file) from the File drop-down window, it will preserve the long length of the field. You can then import into Microsoft Access, changing the field type to “memo” in the process. From Access, you can export as *.dbf if you need a dBASE or Foxpro file. Roger Poole
