Can i create a report in excel using the universe made in BO XI R2.
If so how?

In the current version of Live Office, universes cannot be used directly. The alternative is to create a Web Intelligence document (by definition uses a universe), and use the Web Intelligence document as the data source. I believe direct against universe functionality is planned for the next major release (mid year?).
Outside of Live Office, another alternative is outlined here.

I have heard from BO that the new Live Office version will allow creating a report directly from a Universe in the next version. The new version is due out late first quarter/early 2nd quarter.

Just FYI,
Yes, Live Office now does allow to use Universe directly and create a query from it.I did do this and it works great.
