Besides the obvious answer of “there is no list of values”, why would a user be unable to filter off of a condition that they have just created in a report. We have created a simple report that pulls in the grade effective and end date for your job. A variable is created to calculate the months between these two fields. When we try and filter off of the variable field created we get the error message that “The list of values is empty” Any clues?

Is the variable created a measure? Sometimes that can cause confusion. Try creating the variable as a detail or dimension and see if you experience the same problem.
