I would like to provide my clients with a link that would allow them to download a Webi report in Excel without having to look at the run report first. Basically grab the refreshed data and download the Excel file to their desktop with one click. I imagine it would involve creating a new JSP page. Most of the users I have save the reports in Excel and manipulate them on their desktop. I did a search of the forum, but could not find anything.
With Webi Enterprise 6 this is not as painful as v5 of Webi to get a report into excel… If you take a full Client Report which is set to Refresh upon Opening and grab it from Corporate documents inside of Webi the mouse clicks are as follows:
1> click the report name in corp documents
2> click “Save”
3> click “Save As Excel”
4> It will automatically launch into Excel or might as you the Open/Save question
The way that I look at it this is real easy, basically a “One” button solution… and not worth the effort or cost to do custom SDK work on a a JSP/ASP page…e.g. $150/hr x 40 hours of coding or $6,000 for a single page solution.
I guess my point is if I had a client ask for a one button solution I’d say you already have one… So it could be just a training issue?
Has anyone experienced this: I have a report that has a load time at the top. Since we laod when we receive the data from the outlying facilities, we get them 24X7 so we formatted the date mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm AM/PM. If this report is then viewed through WebI 6.1b and downloaded to Excel, the date is converted to Julian (I think, it is a large negative number). If I change the format to mm/dd/yyyy HH:mm the download to Excel is NOT converted, just shown as the date/time.
Does the HH in caps mean that it will show in 24hr time, or will I have the possibility of 2 8:00’s?
I have a problem while trying to save reports in Excel in Webi6.5. We are in the process of migrating all the reports developed in Full Client v5.1.5 to v6.5.1. When I tested reports in Webi 6.5, and saved one report in Excel, after opening the report in Excel, found one column’s data is not correct. There are 3 sections for the report, the data for February shows up with only data for one section. The sum is wrong.
Could someone shed some lights on it? Is there an issue in terms of data after converting a .rep file into .xls in Webi? All the data match in .rep format for both v2.7 and v6.5 in Webi. It only happens after saving a report in Excel in Webi 6.5. But there was no problem at all when we had some reports for v6.1b.
