DNS Name Change

Does anyone have any experience with issues that exist when changing the DNS name entry on a UNIX box.

We are currently running BO over Solaris and need to make this type of a modification to our BO environment.

Any help/suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

Is this box the primary node in your cluster? If so, your users will need to use a different URL to get to Webi. Other than that, you should have no issues. If this box is a secondary node, then you’ll be fine.

Thanks Mike,

The users will be given a new URL. From the look of it, its running fine and we have no issues in test.
Although, the only thing we have to figure out is when using this virtual DNS name, the Address URL always displays the original URL name. We don’t want the users to see the actual URL, just the virtual name.

That shouldn’t be an issue. The DNS names are defined in the DNS tables and contain the pointers to wherever they need to go. It shouldn’t be any concern to your users.

You’re right Mike, but unfortunately the powers at be don’t want to display any other URL but the one defined as the Virtual DNS name.
